| Method |
| Bechamel Sauce: |
| • Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the flour and cook for about 2 minutes. Whisk in the milk and bring to a boil. |
| • Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 8 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Set aside. |
| • Pre-heat oven to 400F |
| • Slice the crusty bread into thick even slices about 1 inch. Set on baking sheet. |
| • Spread mustard evenly on each slice of bread. |
| • Top two slices of bread with 2 slices of ham and gruyere cheese. |
| • Evenly top the remaining slice of bread with bechamel sauce. |
| • Bake for about 4-6 minutes until cheese and sauce are bubbly and evenly brown. |
| • Using a spatula top the ham/cheese side with the bechamel top side facing up. |
| • Top each side with a fried egg and serve! |
